After completing the Technology and Policy Program (TPP) at MIT in 1997, Pedro Lerner joined the development team of the El Platanal hydropower project which initially comprised management of the Cañete River Basin, hydropower generation and the irrigation of more than 20,000 hectares of barren land.
 
Since 2006, he has been CEO of Celepsa, an independent power producer of the UNACEM group, flagship of the Peruvian cement industry. Under his leadership, Celepsa has been recognized as one of the most attractive platforms in the Peruvian energy sector, due to the quality of its assets, its high-performance management team, and its verifiable commitment to growth, sustainability and climate action.
 
As CEO of Celepsa, he is responsible for the creation and sustainability of the first privately sponsored foundation, to support a Peruvian Natural Protected Area (Patronato de la Reserva Paisajistica Nor Yauyos Cochas).
 
Pedro Lerner has actively participated as a representative of the Peruvian private sector at the COP20 (Lima, 2014) and COP 21 (Paris, 2015), and the NY Climate Week (2015). Currently, he serves as member of the board of Peru2021 (www.peru2021.org, Global Network Partner of the WBCSD) and L+1 (lmas1.org). He served for 10 years as member of the board of the Peruvian Sociedad Nacional de Minería, Petróleo y Energía – SNMPE.
