Brian Ward

Brian J. Ward, P. Eng., is a Director with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (NSTIR) and a graduate of Civil Engineering from Technical University of Nova Scotia.

Over that past 25 years, Brian has worked in many roles in NSTIR beginning as an Operations Supervisor, progressing through the ranks as a Project Engineer, an Area Manger, the Manager of Highway Construction Services, and Director of Highway Engineering Services.

In 2017, Brian joined NSTIR’s Major Infrastructure section as the Director of Major Infrastructure to work on the QEII New Generation Project and lead the Cape Breton Regional Municipality Health Care Redevelopment Project.

During Brian’s career, he has been involved in submissions to Infrastructure Canada for funding under the New Building Canada Fund, changes in legislation and many other initiatives within NSTIR.  Brian was also the lead on the Nova Scotia Highway Twinning Feasibility Study that studied the feasibility of tolling as an option to allow twinning to take place sooner on 8 highway sections in Nova Scotia. This involved 14 public consultation meetings throughout the province to engage the public on the concept of highway tolling.
